Healing comes from seeking understanding of the whole self. I provide a calm and compassionate space to work through anxiety, depression, grief, and traumas. Together we can explore patterns you may feel caught in, look at things in new ways and reclaim parts of yourself that have been closed off or are waiting for the opportunity to grow. I enjoy helping adults, couples, and teens (16+) heal emotional wounds, work through intense trauma or abuse, work through the trauma of the everyday, difficult relationships, parenting concerns, cultural alienation or that feeling that things just aren't right. During this work we will deepen knowledge of your needs, greatest hopes, and complete self.
I am a psychoanalytic, trauma-informed, IFS-informed psychotherapist. I am currently training in EMDR. I also use somatic, mindfulness, and CBT approaches, as well as sand tray therapy. I am a certified psychoanalytic psychotherapist and member of the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. I draw on IFS Circle training and advanced TF-CBT training, I maintain a meditation practice and have studied Zen Buddhism for 15+ years. In my practice I continually educate myself on social justice concerns, as I work to support each person to find their fullest potential within our difficult world.
It takes courage to start this work, and as we begin, I will work with you to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard and understood. I encourage you to take the next step and reach out today, I currently have a waitlist for new patients at my private practice, River Lotus Psychotherapy.
About the Name:
The lotus flower has deep roots and needs sun, water, and mud to grow. The lotus flower can represent strength, resilience, happiness and awakening to life as it is. The mud can represent suffering, confusion and adversity. Growing into our whole selves requires strengthening and deepening roots which connect with our inner self, our outer world, and/or our loved ones and ancestors; it requires attending to our relationship to suffering and adversity. The American Lotus native to Minnesota produces a yellow flower which grows in backwaters of the Mississippi River, the Minnesota River, as well as shallow lakes, and wetlands.
